Psychotherapy and counselling is a talking therapy and one of the many diverse and dynamic approaches to healing that can facilitate a process whereby the client can come ‘into’ greater contact with themselves. In some cases, ‘discover’ themselves for the first time. This can initiate a process of developing a greater insight, and depth of understanding in relation to oneself, others and the world. Often this is a challenging journey. The 'answers' reveal themselves as the path reveals itself as each step is taken. Sense-making is 'acquired' as the different terrains are journeyed through.

Sometimes the decision to seek therapy is not easy or straightforward and sometimes complex. Seeking therapy in itself takes courage.

Serkan offers short-term and long-term online therapy depending on the needs of the client.

His theoretical integration consists of Psychodynamic, Person-Centred and Humanistic/Existential. Below is a synopsis of each approach.

Psychodynamic

Involves uncovering and unknotting unconscious and conscious processes internalised from past experiences [not always from childhood] that may influence present relationships with others, self and the world. What is it that brings a person to psychotherapy? and why now?

Person-Centred

Central to person-centred counselling is the belief of an innate process accessible to everyone regardless of background, class or race that is yearning for growth. That each person can discover and reach their full potential, by 'becoming' their true self.

'The curious paradox is that when I accept myself, just as I am, then I can change' [Rogers, 1967].

Humanistic/Existential

Grabs the bull by his horns, faces and deals with the harder truths of existence. Themes of responsibility, angst, absurdity, choice, death, meaning-making, freedom, truth vs the lie, are of immense significance. What does it mean to wrestle with living a life of meaning, purpose and fulfilment?
